Villa Santa Chiara sits on the top of a hill dominating the stunning Tuscan landscape to the South and facing Siena’s ancient center to the North. Our guests can walk for 15 minutes to reach Piazza del Campo, where the Palio horse race is run, or leave the Villa’s free private parking and drive for one hour to visit places like Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano. Between a walk downtown and a trip to the countryside our guests at Villa Santa Chiara can relax by a private swimming pool, enjoy the shadow of century-old trees, stroll inside the property along 500 olive trees. At Villa Santa Chiara, a 17th century convent later transformed into a country mansion, nowadays a luxury resort with three holiday apartments, fully renovated in 2019, culture meets nature. Discover the Birth of Painting in Siena

Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Madonna del latte (ca. 1325) Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra “San Bernardino,” Siena

From October 14 to January 26, the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts an extraordinary exhibition titled “Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300–1350.”
The exhibition will move to the National Gallery, in London, from Match 8 to June 22, 2025

It’s incredible to see nearly 100 masterpieces by great artists such as Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini, and the Lorenzetti brothers gathered in one place.

But there’s an even more enchanting way to experience these masterpieces: right here in Siena, where they were conceived and created, and where many of them still reside today. Discover the churches where these artworks were admired and revered. Walk through the homes, streets, and alleys where these master painters lived and worked in their workshops. Explore the palaces, castles, and natural landscapes depicted on those wooden panels. Taste the food they ate, the wine Duccio, Simone, Pietro, and Ambrogio drank.
